Scripture states that the carnal mind is hostile to God. So when studying His word (Scripture) you’ll need to study with a spiritual heart. Also notice I use the word “study” and not “read”. Anyone can “read” a manual and get something from it, but to really understand a subject you’ll need to “study” it. One can “read” about nuclear physics and see that it really does exist, but if one is to “understand” nuclear physics one must “study” it. It’s the same with the word of God contained in Scripture. You can either “read” it and get only the basic gist of it’s contents, or, you can “study” it and gain a higher level of understanding.
